Naimah Hassiem

Occupational therapist

Born and raised in Cape Town, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of the Western Cape. Following my community service year in Port Elizabeth, I chose to settle in the city and have since continued to build my professional career here. I began my journey in the field of physical rehabilitation before transitioning to psychiatry, where I spent two years focusing on group therapy. During this time, I expanded my skills in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and gained valuable experience in facilitating experiential groups. Currently, I am part of the team at Watermeyer and van der Merwe, where my work includes conducting functional capacity evaluations, engaging in vocational rehabilitation, providing individual treatment, and facilitating group therapy sessions when required. My passion for Occupational Therapy stems from its multifaceted nature. I find fulfillment in the opportunity to continuously grow my skill set while empowering individuals to enhance their independence and improve their overall quality of life.
